Precision Size allows the user to accurately control the exact size of the shapes in their Shaper designs.
To open Precision Size, select a shape (or linked group of shapes) and then click on the Size icon.
When you open Precision Size, the X, Y & Z boxes will display the current size of your shape(s)
There are five ways to control the size of your shape(s):
1. Use the XYZ co-ordinates in Fixed Size mode
When you use Fixed Size mode, your shape will maintain the same proportions. For example, a cube will always be 1 : 1 : 1.
If I enter "40 mm" in the X axis, the Y and Z axis will automatically resize to 40 mm too.
2. Use the XYZ co-ordinates in Free Size mode
When you use Free Size mode, your shape can stretch freely in any direction.
When you open Precision Size, the X, Y & Z boxes will display the current size of your shape(s)
If I enter "40 mm" in the X axis, my cube will stretch to 40 mm wide but the Y and Z axis will no change.
3. Use Steps in Fixed Size mode
Under the Size mode toggle, you'll see "Size step".
You can use steps to resize your shape(s) by a set amount, i.e. a step.
When I set my step size, choose Fixed Size mode, and then drag any of the coloured size handles (semi-circles) outwards from my shape, my shape will increase or decrease in size by that set increment on whichever axis I'm dragging. The other axis will increase in size according to the proportions of your shape.
To increase the size of my shape I drag the handles outwards from my shape.
To reduce the size of my shape I drag the handles in towards the centre of my shape.
You can set any step size you want, above 0.1 mm.
4. Use Steps in Free Size mode
When I set my Step size, choose Free Size mode, and then drag any of the coloured size handles (semi-circles), my shape will increase or decrease in size by that set increment only on the axis I'm dragging. The other axis will not change.
5. Hold and drag the Size icon.
You can still resize your shape by holding and dragging the Size icon. As you drag the icon around, coloured indicator labels will appear to show you the size of your shape on each axis.
