When you install the Makers Empire app on your devices, it may ask you to allow access to the camera and the microphone. These functions are used for the following:
Camera
Augmented Reality — When viewing designs in 'AR', the camera is activated so that users can see their designs embedded in the real world around them.
QR code login — We provide the ability to login to Makers Empire with QR codes. The camera is required to scan the QR code during login.
Microphone
When students create a design, they can optionally add text or audio annotations to describe their design in more detail. The microphone can record the user's voice, and this becomes particularly useful for students with lower literacy skills. Teachers have the option to turn this feature off.
Importantly, the app will never enable the camera or microphone without the user knowingly activating it. Also, Makers Empire never receives or stores any imagery taken from the camera.
These features are optional — you can withhold camera and microphone access if you prefer, and the permissions can always be adjusted at any time in the settings of your device.
