How do I print with the Flashforge 5MPro via ethernet?

If a wireless connection is not an option a wired ethernet setup may be the best choice for putting your 3D printer on the network.

If you are finding it cumbersome or impractical to load 3D prints on your 3D printer via USB you may want to consider setting your 3D printer up on your schools network.

Every school network is different and school districts will also have their own policies regarding network attached devices. Make sure you have permission to configure the device on the network and are aware of the inherent cybersecurity risks of attaching devices to your network.

The best way to configure your 3D printers network settings especially if wishing to access the device outside of the network is to set a static IP address. You can do this from the settings menu. As well as inputting IP address, you'll need to put in the subnet mask and gateway(The IP of your router or networked switch). This information can usually be found in the network settings on your computer.

Make sure Ethernet is also switched on.

The Flashprint slicing software from Flashforge can work with ethernet linked 3D printers but we've found the connectivity is not stable. Therefore, we recommend Orca Slicer a modern robust open source slicer with reliable connectivity.

Once you've installed Orca Slicer, Click the printer list in the printer tab and choose "Select Printer" from the dropdown list. From there you can select the 5MPro from the list and confirm.

The next step is to select the wifi icon to the right of the printer list.

Finally, to establish the connection with the printer and Orca slicer software, you must select "flashforge" as host type and enter the IP you reserved for the printer below. Click test to make sure the 2 devices can communicate.
